Commuter & hybrid bikes

The bike you ride most is the bike that gets you to work, to the shops, to the cafe. A hybrid or commuter (with flat bars, upright position, durable wheels, room for a rack) handles all of that without asking anything of you. No special shoes. No need to change clothes for a 5 km ride. Park it at the back of the cafe and don't worry.

What separates the categories:

Hybrid bikes — fitness-leaning, lighter, fewer accessories. The bike for someone who wants to ride bike paths on the weekend and might commute occasionally. Trek FX, Orbea Optima. From $1,000.

Commuter bikes — transport-leaning, with mounts (or built-in) for racks, lights, and fenders. Step-through frames common. Trek Verve. From $1,200.

Urban / single-speed — minimal, light, often single-speed or 3-speed internal hub. For dense city riding where simplicity wins.

For most Sydney riders, a Trek FX or Orbea Optima is a great starting point — it does fitness, commuting, weekend rides on bike paths, and the occasional longer day on the road. Add a rack, lights, and fenders and it's a full commuter. Take them off for a Saturday spin and it's a fitness bike.

If you're commuting in earnest — daily, in the wet, with kit on the bike — talk to us about an e-commuter. The motor is worth the spend if you're tackling Sydney's hills before the office. We see customers who hesitate on the e-bike and then ride three times more often once they buy one.

Free first service on every bike sold.
