Privacy policy
Last updated 17 June 2026
MC Cyclery ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, how we use it, and how we keep it safe.
Information we collect
- Information you give us — when you contact us, ask our chat assistant to have someone follow up, enquire about a product, service, fit, hire or membership, or sign up for updates, we collect the details you provide: your name, email address, phone number, postcode, and the content of your message.
- Information collected automatically — when you visit the site we receive basic technical information such as your IP address, device, browser, operating system, and the pages you view. We use this to keep the site secure and to understand how it's used.
Payments — we don't store card details
We do not process or store any credit card or payment details on this website. Products are sold in store, not online. Where you pay for something connected to MC — such as MC Velo membership, or a workshop, fit or hire booking — payment is handled directly by our third-party providers (Stripe for membership, HubTiger for bookings) on their own secure systems, under their privacy policies and the PCI-DSS security standard. Your card information is entered with and held by those providers; it is never collected or stored by us.
Our chat assistant
If you use the "Ask MC" chat assistant, your conversation is recorded so we can answer follow-ups and improve our service. If you choose to leave your details for a callback, we store the name, postcode, contact details and message you provide and email them to our team so we can get back to you. We use those details only to respond to you.
How we use your information
We use the information you give us to respond to your enquiry and complete the request you contacted us about. With your permission, we may occasionally send you updates about MC, new products and events. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or by emailing us.
Consent
By giving us your personal information for a specific purpose — making an enquiry, requesting a callback, or signing up for updates — you consent to us collecting and using it for that purpose. If we want to use it for anything else, we'll ask first. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing team@mccyclery.com.au.
Cookies & analytics
We keep tracking light and privacy-respecting. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising networks, or social-media tracking pixels. To understand how the site is used we use:
- a privacy-friendly, first-party visit counter that stores a random, anonymous ID in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) and a one-way hashed form of your IP address used only to limit abuse — we never store your raw IP, and the data isn't personally identifying;
- Vercel Web Analytics, a cookieless tool that records aggregate, non-identifying usage.
You can clear your browser's local storage at any time to reset the anonymous ID.
Third parties
We use trusted providers to run the site and our services: Sanity (content and data hosting), Vercel (website hosting and analytics), our email provider, Stripe (MC Velo membership payments) and HubTiger (workshop, fit and hire bookings). They only access the information needed to provide their service and handle it under their own privacy policies. Embedded booking widgets and links to other sites are governed by that provider's privacy policy, not this one.
Disclosure
We may disclose your personal information if required to do so by law, or if you breach our Terms of Service.
Security
We take reasonable precautions and follow industry practice to protect your information from loss, misuse, or unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
Accessing your information
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing team@mccyclery.com.au or calling 02 9349 2154. We'll respond within a reasonable time.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page.
