Same destination as the regular Waterfall ride, but the return route detours through Audley in the Royal National Park. The drop down to the Audley weir and the climb out the other side is one of the best 5km of road in Sydney — quiet, twisting, and through old-growth eucalypts.
The Audley climb on the way home is a serious effort after 80km in the legs. Sit in, pick a cadence, and accept that the bunch will get strung out. Regroup at the top.
