About MC
The MC story.
MC Cyclery is an independent bicycle shop at 108 Anzac Parade, Kensington, in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. It opened in 1975 as Maroubra Cycles on Sydney's Eastern Beaches and has traded continuously for more than 50 years. The business later became MC Cyclery, known to locals simply as MC, and moved to its current Kensington premises in 2022. It is owned and run by Harvey and Andy, and the MC team. Today MC offers bike servicing and repairs, professional bike fitting, hire of road, gravel, and e-bikes, complete custom builds, and the sale of bikes and accessories from brands including Trek, Orbea, Parlee, Factor, FiftyOne, Passoni and Base Bikes. The shop is also home to MC Velo, a local riding community with regular road and gravel rides.
A local institution
Born on Sydney's Eastern Beaches in 1975, Maroubra Cycles has been a local institution for more than 50 years. Generations of Sydneysiders have bought their first bike here, had their trusty steed brought back to life in the workshop, or simply dropped by for a coffee and highly spirited conversation.
Some even ended up buying the store — but that's a longer story.
The journey so far
These days it's MC Cyclery, or simply MC, and since 2022 the shop has been on Anzac Parade in Kensington. A lot has changed since the 70s but a few important things haven't. The shop is now owned and run by Harvey and Andy, who first came through the door as customers and never really left.
