Bicycle Mechanic

A hands-on bicycle mechanic in the MC workshop, delivering the daily servicing load to a high standard across both mechanical and electronic setups.

As a member of a small team, you will also be required to handle customer service and retail sales load as needed — typically during busy retail periods.

The role reports to the MC Cyclery Workshop Manager.

What the role involves

• Completion of your daily servicing quota, including timeliness and quality.
• Ensure alignment with the Workshop Manager on jobs and priorities daily.
• Working to the highest standard of care on all jobs.
• Ensure your personal workstation and the workshop are clean by the end of day, and ready to commence work at the start of day.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times, including the retail store space.
• Be proactive in providing feedback to optimise servicing processes, to ensure efficiency from booking to completion, quality, and capacity.
• Maintain accurate parts, product, customer and inventory levels, and servicing data, in POS.
• As required, provide customer service to handle customer load capacity or shifts. This is an important part of the role but a secondary focus. Notwithstanding this, it is not only on request — it is expected that you will be store aware and proactive.
• Provide feedback on product opportunities and needs, based on your involvement in customer service.
• Aware of key industry trends, bringing intel of new products and initiatives to the wider team regularly.
• Proactive and positive engagement with MC Velo, including member liaison and social club activities when required.
• Attend events on behalf of MC, which may be out of hours.

What you need

• Experience and working knowledge in bicycle construction and servicing, across mechanical and electronic setups.
• Strong customer service ethos and sales capability.
• Proven customer-facing and interpersonal skills.
• Ability and aptitude to work at pace, yet with a priority on quality and safety.
• POS literate, with Vend Lightspeed and Hubtiger.

Terms

• Full time preferred. Part time will be considered.
• Monday to Friday, at 108 Anzac Parade, Kensington.
• Reports to the Workshop Manager.
• Salary to be confirmed, and discussed with candidates during the process.
• Three month probationary period.
