Factor's road range has grown, and if you have been wondering about the difference between an Ostro, a One and a Monza, you are not alone. Here is the breakdown.
The naming, decoded
That VAM you keep seeing stands for velocità ascensionale media, or average climbing speed. In Factor language it signals the top tier carbon layup, the lightest and stiffest frames they make.
If you want the quick run-down:
Factor ONE: best for pure aero racing, sprints, and flat-to-rolling stages. The most aerodynamic bike in the range, built around an aggressive modern race position and a design pushed to the limit of the UCI rulebook.
OSTRO VAM: best for all-round racing and climbing. The do-everything option which is light enough to climb with the best, aero enough to be independently rated the fastest bike in the pro peloton, and named Cyclingnews' best overall road bike in 2026.
MONZA: best for cobbles, training, and real-world versatility. The durable, practical racer that pairs WorldTour speed with in-frame storage, mounting options for lights, and the compliance to race Paris-Roubaix.
One, the pure aero weapon
The One is Factor's dedicated aero bike, the latest race machine to roll out of the R&D lab and a genuine no compromise speed weapon. The One throws everything at slicing through the air. It is built around the demands of the pro peloton, so the front end, tube profiles and integration are all tuned to hold the highest speeds for the longest time. The payoff is a bike that feels like it wants to be ridden flat out, holding momentum on the flat and rewarding you every time the pace lifts. You will still have a blast on it in the mountains, but it truly comes alive when the road is flat.
Ostro VAM, the everything bike
Factor calls the Ostro an everything bike, and that is fair. It is light, smooth and aero, ready for the mountains or the cobbled Classics, for long weekend rides or fast pelotons, and it especially loves to be raced. Clearance runs to 32mm, so it copes happily with rougher Sydney tarmac. If you want one bike that does everything well, this is it.
Monza, the everyday racer
The newest and most interesting addition for most of us. Named after the Italian circuit known as the Temple of Speed, the Monza carries Factor's racing DNA in a leaner, more accessible package. It borrows from the WorldTour Ostro VAM but adds a more relaxed fit with extra stack and less reach, clearance for 34mm tyres, integrated frame storage and removable mounts for a light, radar or action cam. Factor's engineers point out that keeping spares inside the frame rather than in a saddle pack can save a few watts. As a complete bike with two bottles, Factor claims it is barely off the Ostro VAM at speed, which is remarkable for a bike built to be lived with.
So which one?
If you ride everything and want one bike for the lot, the Ostro. If you live for flat, fast crits and chaingangs, the One. And if you want genuine Factor race pedigree with real world practicality, the Monza. None of them is entry level - as Factor puts it, the differences are about specialisation, not better or worse.
