We have been so pleased to see families riding together and particularly young kids taking to bikes to stay active during the lockdown. We hope this continues!
Seeing this take place before our eyes in recent months and the rising popularity of BMX, we want to help grow more bike than Xbox for the kids in our local community. We have three skate parks in close proximity (Maroubra Beach, Mutch Park, Chifley), and we have witnessed more and more kids (and even some young adults with youthful dreams) take to BMX.
We are really excited to extend our store to specialist BMX. MC now carries a range of BMX bikes and accessories so you don’t need to travel far away from your favourite local trick park. MC now stocks leading BMX brands such as Wethepeople, Fitbikeco, Sunday, S&M, Radio, Odyssey, Eclat and Salt.
With bikes available in all sizes for a variety of ages, we are happy to talk you through your BMX needs (& wants).
We may even see you at the skatepark!
While on the topic of kids on bikes, we are stoked to see efforts by Randwick Council to keep young kids on bikes with the introduction of pop-up pedal parks at beachside car parks over Winter.
Large sections of cark parks at Clovelly Beach and Chifley Sports Reserve will be temporarily turned into pop-up pedal parks between Friday 26 June and Monday 31 August 2020.
This initiative picks up on the popular activity during the coronavirus lockdown where young families used empty beachside car parks to keep young kids active on bikes. These were safe areas for local families to use for outdoor entertainment such as bike riding, scooter riding and ball games.
This is a great example of leadership by Randwick Council in finding ways to optimise outdoor space and encourage more people to use open space and local families to keep active.
Heffron Park bike track is another quality piece of biking infrastructure for families to use and teach young kids to ride bikes in a safe car-free environment.
